SIMO Wins Major Thermal Power Auxiliary Motor Package

SIMO Motor has won a complete auxiliary-motor package for a major thermal power plant in China, covering multiple YKS air-water cooled HV motors with up to 8000kW each and a total capacity over 30MW, to be delivered in Q4 2026.

Xi’an SIMO Motor has won a complete auxiliary-motor package for a major thermal power plant in China. The order covers multiple YKS air-water cooled (IC81W) HV three-phase induction motors driving circulating-water pumps, induced-draft and primary-air fans, with a single-unit maximum of 8000kW and a total capacity exceeding 30MW.

Thermal power auxiliary systems run continuously, placing extreme demands on motor reliability, cooling efficiency and serviceability. Drawing on 60+ years of HV motor expertise, proven IC81W cooling and VPI vacuum-pressure impregnation, XIMA beat several bidders for the contract.

The motors will undergo full-load, withstand-voltage, vibration and noise type tests at XIMA’s CNAS-accredited laboratory (reg. No. L9204), ensuring key indicators exceed GB/T and IEC limits. Stators are processed in a 5m×4m VPI tank that markedly improves insulation strength and moisture/contamination resistance.

Under the "dual-carbon" agenda, utilities are accelerating efficiency retrofits and flexibility upgrades of auxiliary systems. XIMA’s YKS/YXKK HV motors—high efficiency, low vibration, long life—have become the preferred drive for FGD, denitrification, dust and coal-handling systems.

Units will be delivered, installed and commissioned progressively in Q4 2026. The win reinforces XIMA’s position in power & energy and builds engineering experience for future domestic substitution of 1000MW-class auxiliary drives.
